Our Story

Jessica and Bryana connected on their coaching journey in beautiful British Columbia through a share passion for nordic skiing, people-development, and wide open spaces.

With coaching experience across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, Jessica and Bryana have a combined experience of over 40 years working with skiers of all ages and experience levels. Jessica is a master coach developer working with the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors, qualified to certify the top level of instructors and developing technical content for the association! Bryana has started Masters ski programs in 3 provinces and currently focuses on community ski programs, as well as coaching in her other life in strength and conditioning.

Jessica and Bryana believe that everyone can grow as a skier and a person through quality time on the trails - great people, great energy, and we can't wait to meet you!

Meet The Team

Jessica Stichelbout

Founder & coach

Born and raised in Quebec, Jessica skied her way to British Columbia which she now calls home. For the past 25 years, she has been Nordic skiing, instructing skiing and certifying ski instructors of all levels. From never ever skiers to advanced skiers preparing for races or exams.

She is a CANSI Level 4 instructor and a master Level 4 course conductor. She also has a CSIA Level 1 certification and her NCCP instructor certification.

Jessica instructs, anywhere in the country, from Lake Louise to Canmore, from Silverstar to Kimberley, from Golden to Whitehorse.

Jessica offers private, group lessons and guided tours in the National Parks near her home in Field BC. She also teaches school groups lessons in Canmore at Trail Sports and coaches adult programs at Supercamps in Silverstar.

With her background, she was invited to represent Canada at Interski in Norway in 2023 to showcase what the Canadian Nordic Ski Association teaching methodology.

Moving from trails to trails, with people of all different background, she found her passion to be the ultimate natural ski university and thinks its unlikely she will ever stop learning.

Putting people on skis, experiencing different cultures and creating meaningful experiences, in a natural and organic setting was the driving force behind starting Nomad Nordic Coaching camps

Bryana van Leeuwen

Founder & coach

Born and raised in Ontario, Bryana skied her way to British Columbia which she now calls home. With over 15 years of coaching experience in sailing, cross country skiing, and strength & conditioning, Bryana loves working with athletes of all ages and experiences.

She is a CANSI Level 4 instructor and an NCCP Instructor Stream leader. With a background in Kinesiology, she has her Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology - Certified Exercise Professional, High Performance designation.

Bryana coaches in Northern Saskatchewan, central British Columbia, and wherever the best snow ends up. Between coaching tactical athletes in her day job to working with adult skiers at Supercamps, she has diverse experience and is focused helping athletes and learners achieve their goals - and have fun while doing it!

Bryana could not be more excited to work with Jessica and bring the vision of helping skiers of all backgrounds grow as both athletes and coaches through Nomad Nordic Coaching. Coming to skiers on their home trails, and welcoming skiers to trails new to them, is one of the key pieces of a strong nordic ski culture.
